What a blow!!!!

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) -- Britain cut all of its aid to Ethiopia's government on Wednesday and plans to redirect the 73 million euro ($88 million U.S.) to humanitarian agencies working in the Horn of Africa nation.

  • Thea it is quite sad what is happening in Ethiopia... the international community is cutting its aid and it is not hurting the government of Ethiopia instead it is hurting the people of Ethiopia the ones that are directly depandant on the aid. What does the West think? That the people will revolt? The West tends to forget that in a country like Ethiopia there is no "social contract" when the people protest they are shot down, democracy is a myth... the solution is not cutting economic aid, the solution is placing arms embargos on the government and limiting the international movements of high ranking members of the govt.

  • I totally agree with you Tsega.... that is why when i read such things it makes me sad.... cause the government will just find other means to make themselves richer while the people will still remain poor..... cutting aid means that the government will bring it out even more on the people..... true these countries should get strickter sanctions.... but then again, the people will still suffer.....its very sad!!!
